Crete carrier has a terminal in Marietta, GA which is going to be around 190 miles from Albany. I did trucking school Jan 2004 started with Crete May 2004 to July 2006. Was happy for the first 18 months but became unhappy with my 26 year old terminal manager. Made $48,055 for 2005 my first full year of driving. Crete is a debt free company and is privately owned so does not need to respond to the stock market. They will be difficult to get on with but if you qualify will be worth it.

I'd look at Millis, Crete/Schaefer, and maybe Prime.

Well no. scratch prime. Any company that needs you to supply chains and load bars doesn't impress.

Welcome to the world of trucking !!

Works out of a trailer, lots of drivers complain about equipment since its old, low pay, etc.

Remember this, recruiters job is to lie and recruit. They don't know from the inside what the company is like. They have everything memorized and have answers for all questions.Recruiters don't care what companies do once they get you hired. If they told the truth then they wouldn't have many drive for them. You did good by asking drivers.Werner,I drove for them so I know exactly what they're like

Abilene Motors out of Richmond, VA. Small (I would say medium 350), owner will still jump in a truck, couple of the outbound dispatchers make runs. Sally, the recruiter, tells it like it is and she has done orientation classes a few times.

Can't get on with Millis without a years experience unless they go through MTI, meaning she would have to go to school AGAIN.

Really! I didn't know that. Thanks 77smartin. But, I heard so many bad things about Swift. I'm a bit afraid of them. I'll do more research.
