St Marteen has a famous airport, it's essentially destroyed. There was a strong concrete hotel about 8 floors. The only thing left of it is just the walls, floors and elevator core. Everything else including all the contents (And possibly people) are blown out.

Containers did fly in St marteen. Just like i said they would. I feel really bad.

There is one activity that I will attempt,. there is a game software called FSX Deluxe which captures and strutures real world weather data for KMIA (Miami Intl) when the time comes I'll attempt a 747-400 landing, load pax and depart in near hurricane conditions.

There was a social media on flight watch where a 737-900 crew flew in ahead of a oncoming irma, spent 52 minutes collecting 200 souls and then taking off just ahead of the actual eyewall chasing it down the runway and then using between bands where the calm is to climb out to altitude and gain speed to escape to the NW of it. It went on to NYC.

I expect a number of Miami Intl servers up this weekend as people try their moxie against Irma in a virtual world using real world jepperson weather data collected on this storm. I'll capture it with fraps and atttempt to upload after. If I am lucky I will have a off duty tower man who is a actual FAA controller trying to handle a airport being slammed.

    Infosaur Thanks this.

They can hope all they want. It's human. I encourage it.

Zero Hedge reports many little children are now stranded on the sides of the interstates as people are running out of gas and options, they probably will have to ride out Irma in the worst possible conditions. There is a defense, usually getting underground in a ditch while flat against tornados anything up to roughly F3 (165 max...) but that's only for a few minutes and last gamble for survival. Hurricanes like Irma will hang around for a day or more as it passes through with much greater winds in places, if you are in a ditch, you will drown. If you are under a bridge, cars will pile up then burn cremating anyone under it. (Bridges become lethal wind tunnels.) and what's left? Big trucks? Nope they will fly also.

Once the winds reach a certain speed, about 60 or so, all EMT, fire, police, military etc assets all of it will shelter in place no matter how many thousands cry for help. 911 would be telling them to go ahead and speak the last will and testament for the record in case they don't make it.
