The Walmart Multi Zone Reefers had a little display/controller in the back.
Only really good for changing Temps and Turning Zone(s) on or off.

Not necessarily. I haven't pulled one dispatch could change, but just looking at the type of messages I am sent would make me think it'd be one more thing I'd have to pay attention to rather than less.
When you do the computer work you put in start/stop or continuous and temps. I get messages like, "Why is this on continuous?" Well, if you read past the first couple of pickups you'd see pickup eight is produce. Or, "Company policy is to haul at produce at XX temp." Not the produce I haul on my dedicated run. Then after getting a call and then having to explain all they have to do is read I get, "Oh, yeah you're right." If they could control the unit I'd probably end up at a dump more than a dock. These are usually the weekend dispatch guys though so they aren't around for the planning process and don't know what's going on most of the time. Normal dispatch usually doesn't create those kind of issues. -
This goes along with the shipper who says the truck must be set at a differant lower temperature than what the bol even says. Then dispatch is having a cow when the temp is sent in wanting to know why. It seems like if it were able to set it remotely there would be a fight between the shipper and dispatch right off the bat causing more confusion.DirtyBob Thanks this.
