Too late to take back whatever your driver said. You can refuse to give them a download and they can refuse to pay until you do. Hidden damage, FSP violation, various other reasons. Refusal to give a download will void your reefer breakdown insurance in most cases. $150 is pretty cheap insurance vs buying a whole load.

I guess OP got it handled. He ain't been back with an update. I was going to suggest he read his contract with the broker to see just what his options are. That's always a good first step before negotiating anything. Know where you stand before you start talking.

This story brought to mind something I've seen ramping up in the past few months: not really brokers, but the minion checklist operators they have working for them making check calls, but ranging into second guessing trip planning. A few weeks ago I just about cussed one out, and I'm usually the last person to get hot on someone making check calls. He just wasn't satisfied with me telling him location and status is on-schedule. On his second try I shut it down. Told him "how about this - we'll focus on driving the truck, you manage your customers." Don't know if he was a weekend dispatcher just "following orders" or trying for an attaboy from his boss.

Or maybe he's looking for ways to not pay the freight invoice in full, or at least delay it beyond reason. Something worth considering, and yet another reason not to let customers talk to your drivers if you're not a solo operation.

Tell them if they wanted that detailed of information they could would have put a recorder in the load. And if there was a recorder in the load apparently it was clean or receiver wouldnt have accepted the load.
