if you pay them good going in, he smiles coming out

to be compleltey honest i'm supprised companies even pay deadhead miles
i'm glad they do -
let me tell you how that goes
kraft needs 50 trucks, prime (or any other company) has only 40 trucks in the area,, kraft will pay deadhead miles to get those other 10 trucks there, prime gets paid (i dunno, pick a number $1/mi deadhead) and the driver LO or OO gets $80cpm out of that dollar
same with detention
not everyone works the same, but i remember that from my prime days -
i pay pump price everywhere,
NC 3.169
NJ 2.799
i was being generous with the $3.30 -
to be honest, I've never believed Detention pay to be a real thing. One company I worked for kept changing their story about how to get it. One person said you need to write the times on the bills, another Dispatcher said that the computer pays it automatically, then even another person said "well you only get paid if we get paid for it" and since I've had countless detentions its best to assume that that company lied about paying it. At least my current company flat out said "you aren't paid detention"
and I've voiced my opinion on detention pay plenty of times -
i was being generous with the $3.30
I actually checked the OVERALL AVERAGE $ at the pump for today in the USA @ $3.54 / GALLON so sorry if I was ACCURATE and not GENEROUS , hopefully you understand AVERAGE covers not only where you buy fuel.

What do you care about collecting detention pay for? By the sounds of it you would be happy to go down the road for a couple happy meals a day and a pat on the back. Rather than pay you, I will give the customer a break on the trucking price in an effort to keep the costs for consumers down. I swear I won't pocket the money instead.

Several yrs ago, I was delivering at Chicago waterfront market. Customer left me sitting and went home. Broker had me drop the 2 skids at a local cold storage, customer was billed for freight, additional drop, and 75.00 per skid for storage and transportation back to the market. Long story short, that customer was the best one there to deal with after that little episode, drop and go! FTW!
VisionLogistics and ShortBusKid Thank this. -
Thus far I've only had to threaten this. Last time two weeks ago. Drove all night to make my delivery appointment on time only to find out the load was never scheduled. They didn't like my redelivery rate (which I thought was more than reasonable - $250 layover, $150 for redelivery on a frozen load no less)and said "well what are you going to do, the freight is on your trailer". I politely told them I would go put the load in cold storage and they would get it once I and the cold storage were paid and when I had time to do it. That lit a fire! I doubt I'd actually ever do it but sometimes you gotta play a little hard ball.Mr.X and VisionLogistics Thank this.
