In all honesty it was a good experience and I really loved doing all the out-of-state trips going places I`ve never been, it was great!

I'd say learn to relax and be patient. When I was new, I was lacking in both of those. Sitting at the wheel staring at the clock waiting for your phone to ring with a door assignment or the dock light to turn back green won't make it happen any faster. Relax when you can. Use the in between times to catch up on paperwork, look over your truck, plan your trip, play a game on your phone, read a book, take a nap, etc..
Patience is useful because you will at times be dealing with some of the most miserable people on earth. Grocery distribution centers and the like tend to attract them. Of course, they also deal with some of the most miserable people on earth too, truck drivers. I've seen people's attitude do a 180 when I approach a shipping/receiving desk with a simple smile and "Hey, how ya doin today?"

Patience will also come in handy in reefer because sometimes you don't know when you arrive to pick up or deliver a load if you're gonna be there for 10 minutes or 10 hours. Unfortunately it's the nature of the business.
