NYC Is no biggie , just use a good Truck GPS , city even publishes the truck routes on the web if you need help.

I dread PA , there are some places in there that are downright miniature , like a model railroad set or something.

Ill take NYC over Pa any day

That is why my trucks dont go east of ohio by the time you factor in tolls trafic fuel price and general annoyance i don,t see enough upside but of course i here many drivers say the same about la i guess it,s all just a matter of what you are used to ....but no law if you want to stay employed by them and with 11 years in can,t believe they would fire you...,.stranger things have happenned

Our company has a *no forced dispatch* policy. Every time they ask us to go to NYC we say no and that's it. The reasons we do not go to NYC tough on the equipment. Clutch stop clutch clutch stop watch out for people clutch stop pothole pothole clutch stop traffic up the wazoo loose time clutch stop clutch clutch stop... You get my point?

You could try recording the conversation with your dispatcher and posting it on You Tube when he abuses you. That seems to work.

    http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trucks.shtml

order up some maps, they are free and will send as many as ya want (well, I got ten so I could spread the love)

    http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/sizewt.shtml

I would pay special attention to this pages' info, 53' trailers not allowed w/o permit

"Trucks with 53-foot trailers may only travel on the portions of I-95, I-695, I-295, and I-495 that cross the city between the Bronx-Westchester County line and Queens-Nassau County line. 53-foot trailers carrying non-divisible loads must apply for a New York City Permit (pdf)."

HHMMMMM 11 years with the company and now they want you to run the city Not a good sign. I say hold your ground if you don't want to go to THE CITY call their bluff ask why the last guy to run THE CITY is not still there if you change your mind and decide to help them out ask for a BIG bonus because everybody gets a premium to go to THE CITY

There is no law but a little known trick is to tell your company that they cannot coerce you to run where you don't want to go under the protection of the United States Marshals Service.
