Any steel Co. Owned by Reliance Steel has put in place policies along with certain safety equipment i.e. MERRITOR WABCO is not condusive to truck driving.
The Merritor Wabco is a crash avoidance system with lots if loud beeping, buzzing to distract you and also comes with automatic braking that the truck does to take the control out of the drivers hands and startle you so you can over compinsate your steering when you over react. On top of this they have a no headset policy so now you can get fatiqued and zone out and day dream. They also have a very stringent speed policy, 6 miles over and you will get dinged. So now you can spend more time looking at the dash instead of the road but dont worry because they have driver facing cameras to make sure your being safe. If you work for Siskin Steel who is owned by Reliance you will not get tarp pay and you have to give your first hour up for free before you start getting paid. What a great safe company, good luck if you decide to work here.

Sounds to me like Otis Campbell could drive that truck on a Saturday night and not hit a thing!
Broke Down 69, Lonesome, TB John and 1 other person Thank this. -
If it's so bad why are you still with them?
The last thing I will ever do is fight my own vehicle for braking etc. We will MOST certainly have a big fat wreck. It's my vehicle to wreck, no computer or radar etc will make that choice.
They can put a camera on a pretty inside that office and live stream her to my cab. If people are going to mug me it's only fair play. /snarky.
That's why I stick to non technology vehicles. There is hardly anything in them. -
You're showing your age now, Frank. And I guess I am, too, because I didn't have to Google that. LOLbooley, Broke Down 69, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this.

I’ve never hidden my age. I’m over 320 years old.

I recently bought a new car (I buy a new car every 10-12 years). Anyway, this SUV is longer than my old one so I’m still getting used to bringing in it into the paddock.
I tried opening the car door so I could see the paddock floor better. As soon as I opened the door, the SUV stopped. It also has a back-up camera and when you get to a certain point, it stops, even though there’s still a little room.
My understanding is all these new cars have this stuff. It sure is taking a bit of getting used to. Lol
My American concubine (I’m a Scott) said “I thought you Europeans were natural drivers”. Lolmjd4277, 88 Alpha, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this. -
More like a natural flyer, not driver....
Broke Down 69, mjd4277 and Frank Speak Thank this. -
On top of this they have a no headset policy so now you can get fatiqued and zone out and day dream.
They also have a very stringent speed policy, 6 miles over and you will get dinged
So, if a driver doesn't have a headset that automatically leads to fatugue and you will "zone out and day dream". Please explain this.
Speeding is something that a company should tolerate? 6mph is a lot more leeway than some places I worked in the past, we had 3mph over. Exactly how far over the limit do you think you should be allowed to drive before the company has a problem with it?Last edited: Apr 2, 2019
Lonesome Thanks this.
