Hello all, I’m a vet currently in CDL school in Virginia and I am seriously looking at US Xpress Dedicated Walmart out of Gordonsville, Virginia, as I’ve spent quite a few years down there and like the area. According to the recruiter I’ve been speaking with, they average approximately $1400-$1600 a week out of there and serve Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and North Carolina. Being a naturally suspicious soul, I’m wondering if those numbers are anywhere near realistic, just how many hours I’m going to spend in the DC metro area traffic daily, and how much of a pain live unload and that account in general are going to be. Really just looking to make an informed decision. If anyone has any experience with Walmart dedicated, US Xpress/military, or specifically that account it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, and everyone stay safe!

No word yet??
I’ve done Walmart for Schneider and was highly considering this relocating position as well!!!
Keep me posted
All the Walmart’s I’ve done were easy the longest part was getting someone to answer the door but once you’re in they don’t waste anytime (this being if you’re hauling the meats and produce I have no clue about Walmart dry van... did the recruiter specify?!) But they also service Sams club and I prefer to deliver to them....again it’s all on getting someone to the dock but they are better than Walmart because they have a Driver area to walk in (you’ll wait inside at a window) Walmart will leave you outside at the door (or u can walk in front entrance or call the store)Tram-law Thanks this. -
First things first. Get your license.
After you have your license make sure US Express is whom you want to run with. There is a section on this forum Motor Carrier Questions - The Inside Scoop. I suggest you do some reading. Everyone is hiring drivers for Walmart. US Express is only a step above Werner and Swift. We should get @Chinatown to chime in here as he may have better knowledge of what would work better for you.
Also, recruiters are the last person you should be listening to. A recruiter knows the words to get you feeling that you will fit in because they want your money. -

I used to drive for Schneider and it was great. Switch to USXPRESS when they got the account. Things were good for a bit other than they slip seat in day cabs which I hate. Now I rarely get a load or only get lower paying ones. I tried to get them to give me an assigned sleeper so I could get better loads but I was denied that. They owe me money from shortages on my paycheck which I have brought to their attention along with proper documentation for the shortages but they always fail to pay me. Sometimes you may wait 12 hours or more for a load while other drivers get loads even if you were available before them. My personal vehicle got hit by a fellow Usexpress driver in the parking lot as well which they have also failed to compensate me for. I was taking home about $1200 a week but now I barely take home $600. All in all they run the account poorly.

That’s unfortunate, I say this because they advertise $1400 min/average plus more and home daily for on that exact account. I know any DC favors who they want I’ve done the Bedford DC with SNI and if you didn’t hang in the office you were def getting the crappy loads!
Do they really have you come in and sit for a load? I always say call me when you have a load why does any wait around for this??? Are you at least paid for these 12 hour waits??3PantherSmoke Thanks this. -
Thanks everyone for the solid input, it is highly appreciated!
