Truth be told, a driver has more time available to generate revenue with a properly timed reset. To simplify my meaning, driver "A" runds 8.5 hours aday. at the end of 8 days he has worked 68 of his 70 hours in an 8 day period. However, driver "B" ran 13 hours a day and was out of hours by the end of the 5th day. After a restart driver "B" goes back to work on the 7th day with a full book. While the driver be scenario is unlikely to happen weekly if you ran like that 2 weeks a month you would generate a possible 22 extra hours of driving time. Secondly if you are a dispatched truck for a company you will find yourself easier to dispatch because of the additional hours you have available.
MrEd, HotH2o and ASmallFleetDriver Thank this. -
I run my hours out every 6 days at the moment.

That's a valid point. But for me at least I prefer to run recaps at 9 hours a day. Still easy to dispatch and I am personally more rested running recaps. I start at midnight and run til morning. I'm parking while everyone else is leaving. Since I can't roll again til midnight I have plenty of time to relax and take care of needed chores (laundry, shower, or restock food and supplies) and still get plenty of rest. Knowing how to take full advantage of your company's pay schedule is key to running this way though.pattyj Thanks this.

I do too. Metro curfews, weather curfews, weekend curfews, shippers and receivers open from 0600-1600 and closed on weekends, winter daylight hours...when you can go, you have to go. Most time, you're going to get a restart on the weekend anyway.cnsper Thanks this.

Only if you want to work every day.
