It appeared by your response that you may have missed the part where he did give notice.
I worked for Roehl too early in my career. I did exactly what I told the OP to do. Parked the truck at their Atlanta (don’t recall the actual suburb) yard, cleaned it out the truck and went inside and told my DM “I, regretfully, have to resign” and hopped in a rental car and went home. No problems whatsoever.
I could go back there right now if I suddenly lost my faculties and wanted to.
Again, glad giving notice worked for you, but you’re just as likely to screwed around by these outfits. Happens all the time. I’d rather not take the chance.
Resignation: What are your rights? Red flag(s)?

Besides, wouldn’t ya rather be chasing Kentuckians immediately rather than waiting around 2 weeks to be paroled?Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
No more phone calls. No more loads. No more being nice. WHERE DO YOU WANT YOUR TRUCK THAT IS WITHIN 200 MILES OF MY CURRENT LOCATION? No answer? Leave it.Gearjammin' Penguin and GreenPete359 Thank this. -
X’s 2 what 6 just said.
I’ve always given my 2 weeks, but it’s at will employment and you’ve already went above & beyond.
Imo you don’t just park & run. Find the closest drop lot/ terminal to park it in, lock it up & head home. Let them know after you’re already on the way home.
you already have the next job lined up and ready to go. What happens happens at this point, you can’t be worried about what the current company is going to do/say. Make your moves & be confident. The new company should already know what’s going on.faux_maestro Thanks this. -

Update: Thanks everyone for your advice. I finally dropped the truck off & got the last little bit of my things off of it. My company tried to keep running me in circles, even giving me wrong gate codes to yards. Finally called customer supervisor and was able to leave it at the KS drop yard. Took photos of the inside of the truck, where the keys were designated to be left, and the message that said I would not be responsible for abandonment if I left it there. I also grabbed my last few trips I haven't been paid on yet (just in case).
