So you're trying to justify the other drivers indulgence in a temper tantrum?

no, thats what you assume because i only wondered what the other side of this story can be. this version makes the driver of the other truck sound like some kind of raving lunatic, as if he has nothing better to do than to risk his license by traveling into the left lane and then locking his tandems in some fit of moronic rage

there are some crazies, but most of us are normal, but can be provoked by dealing with inconsiderate fellow truck drivers

like i said, i was coming thru mass one day, UPS and Fedex held hands for almost ten miles, speedlimit was 65, they were doing about 62, neither passing the other

Thank God I left my bazooka home that day

The OP is a student CDL driver with an instructor in the right seat. I'd imagine it happened as the OP indicated. That puts the other guy in your raving lunatic category pretty much, don't you think?

Chicagoland is no place for aggressive driving. We see it all the time and they still get no where fast. Doing a bunch of dumb moves putting others in danger and making people mad to save a minute? It's not going to kill anyone to slow down a couple mph while in a conjested area. This mentality resorts back to caveman days and the desire to be superior. Ugh! :)
Any truck driver that lets his patience get the best of him and displays road rage needs his CDL taken from him.

Stories like this aren't company specific. I would of posted in a different forum. ;)

I agree. No excuse for his stupid actions.

When that occurs I usually key up the mic and simply say, "C'mon driver, if you're gonna be in the hammer lane let's run with it or else get out of the way." USUALLY solves the problem.

if he is going to take on the role of a trainer, then train the kid correctly

lets think of all of the things that could have caused the lunatic to do what is said,

i am not justifying his actions, but why is the kid being given a free pass to block up the middle lane when that is the #1 cause of accidents (impeding traffic leads to everyone behind you needing to change lanes to get around you, and lane changing is a leading cause of accidents with trucks)

everyone wants to hide behind one law and ignore the other (slower traffic keep right)

if his trainer is teaching him the "rock in the stream method" then he is inviting these scenarios to happen everyday
