This was some time in the late 80's, at a truckstop along I-80 in Wyoming. I was driving for JB Hunt, and was on one of my occasional trips towards the west coast. Often, JB drivers would join other JB drivers at dinner tables in more crowded truckstop restaurants.
So, I come into the restaurant after showering, and saw 2 JB drivers who I knew at a large round table, and wen to join them. The first guy was out of our Dallas terminal, and the second was from the KCMO terminal, but lived in Montana. I was usually an eastern driver, running out of our Syracuse terminal. So I joined them for dinner (separate checks).
After a few minutes, a trainer I knew out of the Chicago terminal came in with a trainee, a young African American man who looked like he hadn't been more than 20 miles outside of the south side of Chicago in his life, yet here he was in the 'remote west'.
As this kid was looking trough the menu, he asked "What are Rocky Mountain Oysters"? Stifling a laugh, I informed him that they were a rare delicacy, harvested in high mountain streams. The 2 guys other single drivers looked like they were about to break out laughing, and the guy's trainer gave me a death-glare.
Finally, the Texan let the cat out of the bag, stating "Them's sheep cojones, son.." Then we all broke out laughing.
Rocky mountain oysters..
