An overturned big rig in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 complicated the Friday night commute for many motorists driving through Castaic, according to emergency response officials.
No one was hurt in the single-vehicle crash that happened shortly after 4:40 p.m. on I-5 between Hasley Canyon Road and Highway 126, Supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
“This call was for an overturned big rig with nobody tapped and nobody hurt,” she said.
Firefighters responding to the call expressed concerns about spilled diesel fuel but cancelled calls for the Hazardous Materials unit when the amount spilled “was so small,” Flores said.
The big rig was hauling about 3,000 pounds of cardboard when it flipped, according to reports received by the California Highway Patrol.
