i'm surprised they last this long. considering that most states are no idle.
seems like even the carb certified isn't even alloiwed to idle. -
If they assign me a truck with no apu I am Gone. I will be comfortable living in this truck 3-5 weeks at a time. If I can't be comfortable here ill go where I can. I like it at usa but the people in van buren are in an air conditioned/heated office. They go home to their beds in climate controlled homes. If they expect anything less from me they will see me waving at them as I leave.

Talked to a few people in safety and the guy in charge of fuel Econ, the idle law doesn't remain in effect if you are in your sleeper. And it's winter cold or summer hot. But if you are up front and idleing, even on your 10, then it's in effect
-
Tell that to the police who have knocked on the door to give a driver a ticket. Unless the guy who showed me the ticket he got in PA is lying about being in the sleeper asleep. Or the stories on this site about Cali are lies.
Who decides what winter cold and summer hot is? Im hot natured and high humidity at 68 sucks. For me atleast. Im going to be comfortable. I live in the truck so im going to run ac or heat when I feel I need it. They can deal with it or ill go where I can be comfortable or find me a local job.
I can only go by what im told.

I hope this is just something they are trying and that it doesn't get implemented. If I got stuck with one of those it would be the straw that breaks the camels back. Things are almost perfect since the travel agent (FM) change 01/01 and I'd like to see it stay that way.

No idling laws are different in California than in Northeast. PA as far as I know has a no exceptions policy. California (despite all the communist accusations) actually has quite a few exceptions to the law. CARB certified vehicles with clean idle can be exempt as well as a pet permit tag. Certain other areas in the country also are no idling zones. Ft. Worth, TX has a no idling law and is enforceable by local police. I'm not aware of any exceptions on theirs.

story is cali will not approve any diesel fed apu anymore, the espar heater is approved but the outside diesel engine on the tripac will not be. so they are going to battery powered units for a/c side and espars for the heaters, a variation of the NITE systems from a few years back. several other fleets already have some of these now, I believe crete and celadon are 2.
-
If that's the case just give those crap trucks to the west coast fleet. I don't get to go that way anyway. And that's probably a good thing because I just can't stand stupidity and these Cali laws top the list..

Yea, Schneider has the bunk heaters. They run the batteries down after a few hours. The way things are going. Something tell me people are going to have a hard time getting freight delivered. I'll go back to working on cars.
