Where I picked it up was 50 miles from the closest scale and that was 180° in the wrong direction. I headed in the right direction because the gross was OK by the weights on the Bills and the Pressure that's that's on the dash told me the drives were fine when it was at the 40' mark so the only possible place it could be off was the trailer tandems.
Two hours later when I did scale it, I found out the rear was out. I really didn't feel like running back two hours, then Waiting the better part of a day for a rework, then Have 6 stops rescheduled and essentially be stuck on a 2400 mile (2600 with deadhead) load for an entire week.
The gross was good, I stretched it out so I was legal on every scale I crossed. I went down through the desert so I was not hitting any California Scale and the first stop was getting 9k pounds so I was legal after that.
So I was illegal for around 200 miles of the load with no scales in the way, I was making a little under $1100 for a four day load, so to me it was worth the risk.
Run this load?

Well they got it scaled but the next issue was that I only had half a tank of fuel and I was 280lb under gross by the time they had finished.
Now at my third fuel stop in 1000 miles lol. Last time I ever show up for a beer load without full tanks. Learning all sorts of fun lessons this last 4 months, let me tell ya.
They actually measured to see that I was legal at that stupid agricultural port of entry thing on 15 southbound by Baker. Red lights on the prepass all the way. -
Screw MC. Holding you hostage by refusing to rework a load is BS. After 20 years, and with less than a year to go, they can kiss my generous hiney.

First the shipper states the load should be around 39k, then tells me 32k, then it'll actually be 40k. I slide the tandems up forward both to match the CA length, then more so that the air gauge for my drives is right where is usually is for 32-33 k pounds. The air-weigh on the trailer, is reading 32100. Nice. I get to the nearby streaking beacon/cat scale, pay the cash, and my jaw nearly falls to the floor. 12160 steers, 34040 on drives, 34k on trailer, 80,200 on the gross...with 1/3 tanks of fuel. wth???? I call dispatch, go back to the shipper who says "that's impossible, this should be no more than 41,000!!" Needless to say he refused to cut the load, and told me to take it as is or he'll pull it all off. I go back &a forth with dispatch who also calls the broker, and I am told to run with it, just burn off some fuel before I get to banning. So I run it to where I'm sure I've burned fuel off, and stop at my dot break site near the CA line and re-weigh. This time it's 12,320 on the steers, 34060 on the drives, 33900 trailer, and... 80,280 gross?? I get a hold of dispatch, let them know if the situation, and told the load needs to get there, just burn off more fuel... and then I learn they thought I was only 160 over on the gross, which means the assistant dispatcher heard me wrong and only believed what the lying POS shipper told them. This time I called higher up and they went over it, and was told to try and run until I get close to banning and re-weigh again....Lepton1 Thanks this. -

I have my doubts.... I've been getting red lighted a lot lately most scales I pass through since the beginning of this year, even with light loads.

Those 40 foot.stickers make it a dead give away....also the scales.in Michigan measure your tire to.tire length......they pulled me in for being 10 inches over.....*he said your 10 inches to long* so i hit him with a joke * yeah she tells me.that alot* he laughed and yet me go with a warning lol
