Sometimes you’re just at will with what the shipper wants and what your company supplies for tarp sizes....

We get some awful shapes to haul at times - I've had to use a couple of straps to either - increase security on tarp seams, or to prevent billowing - if the shape prevents me from stopping airflow from underneath.

Bottom line - I don't sneeze much at how others tarp their loads - I just try to do my best with what I'm faced with.

Hey! You leave that Spirit Wichita freight alone!
I see the Missouri plate on the trailer, what part of the state are you running out of? I’m from KC.

Nice tarp jobs btw. It’s not always easy.

Okay, can I change my vote? We haul and tarp a lot of lumber. They're usually nice square loads that are easy to tarp and snug down without running the straps over the tarps.
If I had to haul loads like the ones in the pictures I'd use straps any place I darn well wanted to.;)

    Yes you may!

@Old Man told me to start with square stuff and build up from there.

I agree that on a lumber load you should be able to make it look tight and pretty fairly easily.

    Then - eventually . . . Well - I carry a 70 foot by 40 foot tarp with me . . . and things got complicated.

Straps over tarps are pure laziness. Some of the company trucks you see doing it are because they drop and hook, the load is loaded and tarped so they just have to strap and go. But if it’s a live load there’s no excuse for it. Learn how to tarp properly.

And my statement don’t apply to oddball loads with a strap or two over the middle.
