Pump price is $2.93. With discount it's $2.78.

I’m confused. That sounds like full pump price less tax.

Over 50% of the pump price is tax. Truck stops/gas stations only make a couple cents per gallon profit on fuel.

JCT's fuel rebate is 15 cents off the cash pump price. Which is going to vary widly depending what area you are in. I hear Cali is around $4 a gallon.

This is where my confusion is. Their ad says they pay IFTA, but in fact the driver is paying for it at the pump and JCT keeps the discount it seems.

They do pay IFTA. What discount are you talking about? I'm willing to bet that JCT doesn't get much of a rebate back on IFTA considering alot of drivers avoid fueling in high IFTA states (i.e California) and buy fuel in lower IFTA states. This doesn't even include the mess in Oregon where alot of drivers do fuel before going into Washington because the price difference is so dramatic.

Drivers here only look at pump price and don't care about IFTA and buy fuel where it's the most afforable for them; not the company.

I’m not sure I’m explaining my point very well. I’ll get some sleep and think on how to rephrase it.

I made the same argument when I started here. If JCT is truly paying IFTA then why are we paying taxes on our fuel. It just means we're paying the IFTA at the pump, and JCT just covers overages.

But as Macho pointed out it also means we don't care about trying to fuel for ifta we just look for the lowest price where we can find it.

Pilot Flying J gets you $0. 15 a gallon added back to your EFS card weekly. Fueling at Love's as a JCT driver gets you 10 bonus points a gallon for a Max of 14 at Dimond level.

Apparently you can also get your own fuel card that may have better discounts through a co-op and just send your fuel receipts into the fuel desk for them to cover ifta.

I definitely do not agree how they do the fuel discount seeing as they're keeping the larger share of the discount from Flying J even though we're the ones paying for the fuel.

If they were truly smart they would give us most of the discount and then gradually increase it in the background without us knowing based off of the volume increase we would suddenly be doing. A $0. 35 or so discount at Flying J would push me to mostly be fueling there. I'm sure a lot of others would too.

This video popped up in my Youtube feed and it got me thinking and actually made sense to me. I think I might starting listening more to this guy.

And yes, I knew who Dave Ramsey was before this, but just didn't have the interest in his stuff before. I believe that things find you for a reason and it's up to you either take it and run or ignore it.

Just like with Kevin Rutherford; you don't have to agree with everything, but the knowledge could help you down the road.

You summed up my point. I think it bothers me enough that I won’t accept their offer.
