In almost 2 years here, I've had a grand total of 5 loads cancel and each time I've had to rebook, I ended up with a better week than originally booked. Insofar as freight rates go, we are not spot market. We're exclusively contact freight, so regardless of what the market is doing, our rates are consistent.
Under the CPM contract JCT drivers may be earning anywhere between 110% to 30% of the rate depending on market and time of year.
Well, say a load out of south Florida pays $0.65 a mile but JCT pays us $1.32 all in or say a load out of Salinas paying $4.00 a mile but JCT pays us $1.32 all in for example.
yeah one of the planners I talk to said that we routinely pull a dollar or less freight out of Florida just to get us moving. which is why they tried to expand the accounts down there and then when we got a good account we promptly service failed the first three loads....
Market has dropped considerably across all platforms. Many small, medium and large fleets expanded to meet last years demands and now they are scrambling and competing for fewer loads.
Trailer 7116 dropped at Tyson in emporia Kansas leaking airbag auto air system lines disconnected from the tire rims two bad tires below DOT standards brakes out of adjustment to the point where even when applied you can see a gap on the pads to the hub and a DOT inspection that is 1 month overdue.... I wonder how long it's going to take them to get road service here to fix all that because if they think I'm going to be trying to move this trailer they can go #### themselves
So update on the trailer, I was able to get the frame rails to slide by using a copious amount of spray lube. Then took the trailer 30 miles in the wrong direction to the TA. apparently the new brake chamber that was installed recently was the incorrect one which was causing it to always be out of adjustment no matter what was done so the trailer needed one airbag two tires (at least) one new brake chamber, DOT inspection. I'm on hour six at the shop. This is the third airbag I've had to have replaced in the last 4 trailers. normally I just get them replaced when I take my 10-hour break at a TA or something unless it's like the one I pulled out of Colton which was leaking so bad my compressor could barely keep up that I had to replace it in Barstow in route... But seeing as I'm going to be going across the Nara truck inspection station in New Mexico and I've been pulled in there twice for a walk around inspections I'm not screwing around... Especially with everything else wrong...
