I know :p But also, the chargeback would be on maintenance things, like the bald tires/seals thing. Common sense would dictate you didn't drive a trailer in with a flat tire. Things that CANT be done at a receiver generally...unless that yard dog was running the trailer around 24/7. Getting them miles!

On our work flow system when we show dropping the trl..it automatically asks you a vi report to fill out on it...this essentially narrows it down where any possible damage may come from...not foold proof but better than nothing.

I know several different companies that require the drivers to fill out an equipment condition report when they 1st hook to it. Any thing that happens until next driver gets addressed by current driver. When next driver fills out his/her condition report, if there is anything found, previous driver gets charged for it......not a flat fee, but the ACTUAL COST OF REPAIRS. They have basically have a 0 tolerance and 0 problem.

Btw, charging drivers for actual cost of repairs is in our contract. Read paragraph 13.

Ew. If that was enforced, you'd have contractors leaving on first tire blowout.

So this load is going to Portland Oregon from Phoenix. Never done that particular run, and looking at the routes, there's I10 to the 5 and running the height of California...(Not appealing), then two different routes through Nevada. One taking the 95 all the way up through Nevada and Oregon, and the other taking the 93 up through Eloy to Jerome on th I84 then west.

Which would be the better route?

Only for neglect. Stuff happens as trailers go down the road. Nothing you can do, but leaving a known issue. That's totally different

Just an idea. Every piece of equipment has to have an annual inspection right? Landstar would like to see them done every 90-120 days. When I hook to a trailer that is due I am notified via my dashboard, online not truck. And if it wont put my load in a bind, I can go to a shop get it done and make 25.00 for the trouble. Its not fool proof just makes it where every trailer ends up getting a good once over by a shop every 4-6 months on average.
