I totally know what you mean when you say tech supports jobs leads to depression issues for you. I've also worked in technical support and customer service and will never do it again. Dealing with the technical issues was ok but the customer stuff was for the birds. I was fired 2 times from the same company for not properly handling irate customers over the phone. I especially wouldn't do it for $10-$13 per hour. That doesn't seem like very much money at all. If I remember correctly I made fortyish per year and that was around 1996. But anyway, I started in trucking on a company sponsored CDL training program and Im still with the same company 6 years later. You can make pretty good money in trucking after the first couple of years but I wouldn't have too high of expectations for the 1st year.

Yes, my friends thought I was crazy for hating my work from home tech support job. The troubleshooting is fine but dealing with irate customers was especially stressful. I would take back to back calls half of them being irate, harassing, belligerent, and incompetent customers. Most would complain about issues out of my control like outages. As a supervisor I was only paid $13.50 an hour, so every single call was an angry customer. After doing this for 4 years it eventually lead to a mental breakdown. I didn't like what I was doing do I decided to do something else, that's when I started driving. This confirms my decision for change was a good one.
I'm going to look into FFE and Millis Transfer tanker divisions, and LTL aggregate hauling.blairandgretchen, Moon_beam, Skydivedavec and 1 other person Thank this. -
Millis does not have a tanker division that I know of dry van only, They will float the note on schooling, but you'll have to work for them for a year (I think) but it is a top shelf school, with top shelf equipment to work with when you get done.

If you're smart with your money, you'll fare well. This is a job that depends on YOU a lot more than 9-5 gigs. With the right attitude you'll succeed.Advancer Thanks this. -
Learn how to manage you money.
Right now I work for $13.50 an hour, yes people I am under paid. But this is a two week assignment with osha, forklift and chemical response training so there is a trade off. I have no clue what the forklift training is for, they are a one truck company - it is a tanker truck that hauls some really nasty stuff. So I take advantage of the reduced paycheck trade for training and not worry about the money.Advancer Thanks this. -
