Talking about unbelieveable,
The family and I was East bound on I-20 around Bird Tx headed to Dallas around 7pmish when we saw a lightning bolt strike an SUV. My wife was about to over take the SUV when I saw a huge explosion sending sparks every where. It was also very loud! Well we passed the lady driving and everything seemed okay but once we got about a quarter mile down the road I could see her pulling over. So the wife and I decided we better turn around and go check to see if everything was ok. It took us a while to get back since we was already passed the exit and it started raining pretty hard. But about 15 mins later we found the lady still pulled over.
I got out of the car and walked up on the passenger side since the lady was parked pretty close to the hwy. You could tell right away she was ok physically but was extremely upset and crying. She rolled down the window and I asked if she was ok. The lady replied yes and had called 911 who interned called the high way patrol. Then she asked me what happened and I replied, your truck was struck by lightning. She said all she saw was a flash of light and heard a loud sound and then her truck died. it still had power to misc stuff like the windows and starter but it wouldn't start. So the wife and I asked if she wanted us to stay with her until the officer arrived, she said yes and thanked us for stopping. It wasn't that longer when a DPS showed up to help. We explained what happened and he called for a wrecker. And about 10 miniutes later the lady's friend pulled up...she was on her way to visit a friend and was only about 20-30 miles from her when this all took place. As we started to drive off, the lady gave us a hug and thanked us again for stopping.

wow. thats amazing. I mean you turned around to see if she was okay? So strange to see courteous people.
And the lightning strike must have been cool too. -
People are generally pretty courteous here in Texas. You don't see it much in larger cities but people will wave as they pass you by on smaller county roads and high ways.
As for the lightning being cool. Man, it happened so fast and loud, it took me by complete surprise! Just say I was a little nervous standing next her truck while it was still lightning lol -
Years ago, I was in a pickup truck that was struck by lightning. 'Blinded by the Light' doesn't even get the half of it. Definitely a shocking experience.

Interestingly enough, there was a burn mark across the roof, inside of the cab where the bolt had hit the top of the cab and wrapped through the inside of the cab, where our windows had been open a crack. Burned a straight line right across the fabric. -
She was ok, but her cars electronic brains did not fare so well.
That car is probably totaled. Does insurance cover lighting strikes? -
I wasn't going to tell that lady but I figured that vehicle was going to have electrical issues for a long time to come. She did say she had really good insurance, she was retired Military and LEO. So hopefully they'll take care of it.

The officer and I looked on top and didn't see a thing. It had to have done something, I saw ton of sparks.

Bless your heart for being there for her! You watch, something good will happen for you in the near future.

it was nice of u 2 stop n lend a helping hand. GREAT JOB!

Yeah, that's what is weird about lightning. On the outside, not a mark on the vehicle. On the inside was where the burn mark was. Glad she wasn't hurt, though.
