Right, closed means closed. If the sign says bypass but your transponder says enter, then you should enter. Follow the signs that say to follow the in cab transponder. But if the sign says close, then don't enter. Enter a closed scale in the wrong state and you'll find yourself staring at a gate that's closed with no way to go but backing back up on to the freeway.

I think if you go into a closed scale because of red light on prepass dot probably will give you a inspection because clearly you're not smart
-
-
I’d say you do whatever the PrePass tells you to, otherwise what is the use in having it?
If the scale sign says come in but your PrePass green lights you, you defer to the PrePass. It would only stand to reason that you would do the same in a opposite situation.Dave_in_AZ, skellr and scottied67 Thank this. -
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Scales in Ca usually read: Scale Closed
Do Not Enter
As far as I'm concerned, that trumps everything. -
Usually they won't mousetrap a trucker like that, there might be a barrier to get on the actual static scale but the bypass lane is open.

Roll the dice and hope for the best.
