When you say the kids are going to require more cash, what is it you need to earn yearly to make that happen? Just don't want to see you have your dreams dashed if you are expecting a lot of money.

Naaa not a lot of money, just a decent living.
sadly the other half and i work 40 plus a week and between both of us we do good to take home $25 a year. after taxes, insurance, and all the other crud, its hard to make it.
I'm looking at the long haul, what the kids will need for collage , graduation, all the other stuff coming up in the next few years.
Plus i need a job i can enjoy.
I know a person wont make it rich driving, but a decent living is all i'm after

    :biggrin_25524: WOW!!!

BOTH working full time and taking home $25/year? $240/week each? Oh yeah, I would think you could do much better than that in a truck. You mean take home as in AFTER the government raping....... I mean taxes?

Cause even if you only took home $500/wk after taxes driving a truck, you've pretty much matched that as a SOLO, and with your wife still working you can add another $12,500 to it.

I want to thank each of you for the kind words and sage advice you've given over the last few pages of this thread.

I received my Greyhound bus tickets today and I'm shipping out Saturday night, headed to Memphis and finally Millington for training. I'm really excited and nervous of course. Pretty soon I should be out there on the road! Watch out! lol

I'm already planning some ideas for a new YouTube video series regarding trucking! Stay Tuned!

Gears, nascarchuck and Jarhed1964 Thank this.

Prepare yourself this job can be torture. I'm talking about traveling up I-15 in the summer towards Vegas and a convertible BMW slides up next to you with 4 bikini clad nerdy college girls with glasses and nun's habits from Loyola Marymount who all simultaneously pull their tops off and the two in the back stand up in the back seat and show you their moons.

    Wargames and Gears Thank this.

*puts a thermometer in Scottie's mouth and heats up the chicken soup*

You'll be okay, Scottie...we'll get that fever down and the hallucinations will stop.
