Well i went and got my physical, and drug screen, and yes they do a hair test too, was supposed to get my bus ticket and info yesterday, but never heard from them, and of course they are not there today on thanksgiving, so hopefully i hear from them tomorrow, and the medical dept called me about some previous medicine I was on, and was grilling me, but i was honest, so hopefully i head to W. Memphis for orientation on Sunday.

Oh, they're not *that* bad a company. Dispatch is OK - at least the lot out of West Memphis.
Your first thirty days, you'll get home like clockwork; I did - was home by 1500 Friday and left out again by 0800 Monday - averaged around 2200 miles/wk.
You'll then be routed to Green Bay to complete your 'onboarding' by getting into one of those simulators.
After you first thirty days, you'll have to stay on them about hometime - I'm regional out of W Memphis, but found myself recently doing circles in and around Philly - had t bluster and threaten and cajole in order to get home - three weeks later, only to be told that I wasn't regional. I blew a gasket and eventually hometime became somewhat regular for a few weeks.
And now? Blew my engine Wednesday about 2 miles from the Charlotte, NC, yard and have been sitting in a motel since. Was informed tonight that Green Bay has to decide whether to rebuild the thing or junk it. They're good about getting you a 'loaner' truck in these cases, though.
As an aside, I wound up being issued an autoshift rig... crappy, I know, but I get called upon to recover lots of abandoned rigs... pays about $150-200 per pop just to ride with someone else to pick 'em up, plus mileage to get them back to my home terminal.
They won't tell you much about day-to-day operations in orientation... you'll just have to figure that out as you go. Trust me - you'll learn something new every day. Been with SCNN for over a year and sometimes I'm still left scratching my head over policy and protocol. -
well everything came back clear today, and was issued my ticket, headed out tomrrow, hopefully there will be some tractors out on yard that I can get, cause well, i will be ready to get home and get loaded with what i want in my tractor. What are Pumpkins policies on inverters, tvs, electronics, ect... im sure most shop guys (the only other ones who ever see inside) dont really care.
PS i will be running regional out of nashville, about a 500 mi radius, with home every weekend, lets see how well that goes. -

yeah they took a hair folicle test from me.

Good luck; just hope you don't wind up with an autoshift.
The TE's in W Memphis are alright guys; you'll do just fine. Just a simple physical exam, tons of paperwork and trip planning exercises. The motel really sucks, though - be forewarned.
There's really no such thing as 'regional' - you might wind up in Augusta, ME, Jacksonville, FL, or Laredo, TX. Jut be prepared for that. And as I mentioned earlier, don't hold your breath for the 'home every weekend' thing. Just stay on your DBL about it. 2nd/3rd shift operations suck at getting you home - they don't care one way or another - make sure you communicate EVERYTHING through your DBL, and not the peckernecks in Green Bay.
I think the inverter policy is nothing over 150 or 180W; I don't really recall. Nothing hardwired in at all. Nobody' going to look unless you've had an accident - my experience is that the shop folk really don't care one way or another. -
Yeah I talked to the head dispatcher sorry haven't gotten the dbls and tm and all down yet but he said I should expect to be home and keep his number if I'm not...I feel comfortable I don't even care to be home if I have a load that let's me get by the house at least. I know we are entering slow freight season so I will see how that holds out. I love laredo but he said I shouldn't expect to see tx much. The only other thing I wonder is I have a satellite dish mount that bolts on to the mirror and I set up when I stop...can I get away with leaving the mount on the mirror. Thanks for the insight...I'm sitting on the greyhound now headed out. -
Just plan on going out and don't think about going home!
lol just kidding! from what i have seen in California same drivers coming and going everyday. Intermodel seem to a very consistent routine as well as the dedicated jobs. pretty sure they will do what they say or pretty darn close to it. Although have to be flexible in this business too. -
