3000? You must have had a good one. I had one blow on me in the tunnel on the PA turnpike, wb just before somerset. Got it replaced. Made it to the first plaza in ohio and had a section of the tire already starting to come apart. So that's what? maybe 120 miles....LOL

Ethos, good day. I am currently still active duty Army (hope that ok lol) and will retire next year with 22yrs. I am looking at tanker as my next life. I have no kids and wife works but hope to be able for her to just travel with me when she wants after i get a few years under my belt. I am going to get my CDL during my terminal leave as i have 5 deployments able to save up and will have almost 4.5 months of terminal leave when i retire. I see you like Schneider for a newbie and was seeing if you had any other though or advise for me as I make this transition. I am trying to find a good Company/Tanker that allows for newbie Military Veteran Program a plus. We are not sure where we will retire but currently in Fort Stewart, GA. We are looking at Saint Louis, Nashville, Little Rock areas as my wife want to be near some base so she can transfer as she is a gov employee. Once again thanks for your time and advise. Jay. If you want to post here or send private message please any help or guidance as I am truly looking for a TRUCKER MENTOR.

Honestly if you are looking to have your wife ride with you then tanker may not be the best option. The main reason is that most plants don't allow riders in and as a tanker you will be going to a lot of plants. I'm sure some couples make this work but I bet the wife spends a lot of time at truckstops. If she is cool with that then great but it would be tough. Nashville and St . Louis are decent tanker areas, Little Rock not so much but again there will be something. Here would be my suggestion.

Pick a city to move to. If Houston is an option then go there it's tanker heaven. Then figure out which tanker outfits are there. Now you can almost guarantee Schneider Bulk will hire you but if you can you want to get on with a better company. Nothing wrong with Schneider understand but you won't stay there for years. So if Trimac, Superior, Altom etc hire out of that area call them up and ask what school they recommend. Make sure you let them know you are retired Army, it will help. Establish a relationship with them and they will probably hire you out of school then you won't have to go anywhere else as they are pretty much the top.

If you have your heart set on OTR after 2 years you can get on Trimacs Elite team and earn well over 80k easily. If not, you can do some regional or local stuff and earn 65k or more. It all depends on what you want and how much money you need. Wsyrob, David 123 and I think NCDriver are all Superior. Me and Stormdriven are Trimac. Firespock just quit Schneider. Any of us would help you out, some might even talk to the terminal manager for you.

In any event tanking is the best kind of trucking. So good choice.

    WingNut72 Thanks this.
