Hey guys. ....figured I would introduce myself here. Just got my conditional offer, start school in Portland on the 11th, then head to Fontana for orientation. Signed on for western 11, but was told it should be no problem if I want to switch out to 48. Not my first time driving, but it's been over 20 years since the last time I was behind the wheel.

Anyway, been following the board here and figured it was time to come out of the shadows lol.

Welcome aboard almost. If you have any questions I'm not sure you should ask because you might get several answers. Jk ask away we'll do the best we can to steer you wrong.

Trying to do the right thing ALWAYS backfires. I picked up an empty and got to the Carlisle OC. The DVIR showed it had some defects so I swung by the shop to see what it needed. Turns out it needed a PM. Mechanic asks me when I need it back, tell him I'll be up early afternoon. I asked to make sure that I got the trailer back, so he says "no problem" (lol yeah right) and takes down my name and phone number and says they'll call me when it's done. Lo and behold it's early afternoon, still no call. I go check in with the shop and they say it's done. Ask them where it is, thinking maybe it's still in the bay, guy just shugs and says "somewhere out back".

Of course, I go check all over the yard and no empty trailer. Go check in with the fuel desk and another driver has it and is long gone. Lucked out and found an old ****ty trailer that I could take. Hopefully they put it on me like I asked them too so I can get out the gate.

Crap like this just creates a cycle of "I'm not gonna do it because I'm gonna get screwed over if I do."

I had a driver saw me drive in the yard with an empty and ran to dispatch to get that trailer under his name. Lucky I stayed hook all night

This is what I DO NOT miss about driving a punkin truck. My trailer is my trailer. Yes, I do 100% live loads and unloads, but I know how long it's going to take me. (Call it driver hand load/unload if you want, but the pump does most of the work ;) ) I know about the issues with my trailer when they come up, not when some message tells me. And it goes into the shop (either ours, or a local shop if I'm not close to ours) every 30 days for inspection. When I have to drop it off for whatever reason, I know it will be there when I go to pick it up...even when it sat for the days I was running van, I didn't have to stress about finding a good empty when I got back :)

    I love my job!

    I hate you.

No I don't, just spent a good chunk of my day fixing other people's stuff so I'm jealous.

On the plus side I just got another raise. This keeps up 6 figures won't be a pipe dream much longer.

I wonder if the wiring on these bunk compaertment wall 12v outlets might be the reason I only get an hour of cab power. There was one of the female ends truck side partially burnt , which damaged the outlet itself. the other one just isnt getting power at all, but the third outlet on that circuit has power no problem. after the obetz shop replaced the burnt one I used it once with the cpap inverter, which blew the internal plug fuse on the inverter.

getting tired of farting around with this portable power unit for cpap. would much prefer if it were hard wired.
