I know one person that does fine with the “Choice” lease deal. I know 3 others that failed miserably and were all begging to get their old job back.

I think the biggest issue on choice with these guys failing so bad is this...there are some who are openly willing to take and ask for advice over there to get better while there are many who think they know it all about being an ic, when in fact those who act like that don't even come close to understanding how to run a business...then they fail and blame everyone and everything except the one in the mirror...

    Sad but true.
I looked at the feasibility of possibly of being an O/O. But given the current situation with the freight market and the costs of just getting a DOT authority (number, registration, fees, etc.)I decided to put it on the back burner for the time being and remain a company driver.

I did just fine at Schneider as an IC - one thing that the SFI guys will never understand is that when you buy your own truck and then lease it to a company - that company should not change the rules as they please - after you have leased equipment on. So many of us drug up when Schneider in January 2017 stated that by August 2018 any driver leased on with their own equipment must meet the CMS (collision mitigation system) standards or else their contracts will be terminated - plus anyone who hires on must have CMS or they do not qualify, and no older than 2010. When several hundred O/O's drug up in mass - Schneider tried to pull the plug and tell us that they changed their minds and now the cutoff is 2022. Too late in my book - now they have since stated that they'll take any equipment as far back as 2002, to include gliders.
I get mailers at least every quarter wanting me to come back - I have my wife save them. The letters make great fire starters for the fireplace. THAT'S why they suck.

That is one of the biggest issues there too...they change rules on the fly and a lot of time they don't abide by it...thats corporate green bay doing it...
