if you read my whole post I said a lot of companies over due it with a trainer. Maybe Schneider has found the answer I don't know. But in my opinion I think a recent grad needs more than one week.

Watkins-Shepard is 10 days.

How about training new kids with daycab drivers. They would touch more trailers and back in more docks than otr.
harlycharly55 Thanks this. -
I've never driven a daycab so I can't say, but I'd imagine it would maneuver very differently from a tractor with a sleeper due to the wheelbase length. Might make it tough for the new guys to spend all their time training on a highly maneuverable truck then go send them to a tight yard with a sleeper.

I guess I am too much old school and have been out of it too long. I reckon a lot of these companies have it down to a science. I know they are a lot smarter than I am.

Besides you still have to test out and pass or you automatically win the extended version of SNI wheel of training.

I was a Trainer for Schneider and this is true, absolutely no team driving is allowed ever. The entire time is spent in the passenger seat and awake. A student may request additional time if he wants and nobody will utter a word about it.lfzebra, Lightside, harlycharly55 and 1 other person Thank this.

Definitely interested in going with Schneider..even if just the fact the training OTR is one week. Very appealing. I don't want to spend three weeks bunking with someone. W/S also does this but just orientation and then you solo alone. I think this is better as it gives you independence and the confidence to learn on your own as you go. They are always a phone call away.

It also sets up drivers to fail.

Not all drivers but some.
