    Hello everyone,
Looking at buying a freightliner with 14l Detroit mated to a 13 speed. I was wondering what can I expect for mpg? If you have this setup in your truck please list year and specs. Leaning towards a century right now but not sure. Thanks

    There's many here running a FL with series 60 and a 13spd.

Fill in these other blanks for a more complete answer :

    What rear end ratio?
    What size tires?
How fast are we going to run?
    CAC tested and overhead set?
    What kind of trailer?
    What area(s) of the country?
What is the average weight of load?

I was getting 6-6.2 mpg summer time from CA to OHIO back. The engine was tuned well, g572 drive tires, 25-30k lb load. Winter time I was getting 5.7- 6 mpg

I will be running NY, Nj and Pa. Looking to be around a 3.55 rear end since I will be running a bunch of hills. Loaded one way between 20-35k. Then empty back. Thanks for the replies so far.

    Hi PP, I drove a '99(?) Century condo-type, 500 Detroit, 13, 3:55's and 22.5 rubber, with 830,000 miles on it and got 7 all day long @70 mph. 7.1 or 7.2 sometimes.

I had 14L engine but average about 6-6.5. I would be looking for 12.7 pre egr the are much better fuel economy.

I have an 07 Columbia with a 14L and an 03 Columbia with the 12.7L both with a 13 speed and we get better mileage out of the 07. I was told by a mechanic that the 07 has a super 13. Is there such a thing?
