    HaHaaa..Haaaaa(please stop.)
Unemployment in OTR trucking right now, with ALL the trucking jobs available right now?...HAHaaaa...
Unemployment is a paid subsidy to search for a job..

the unemployment office will send you on 12 available OTR driving jobs on the first day..
considering it will take 3-6weeks to get a unemployment check(that you wont qualify for)..

I predict you wont see a $0.10dime in Unemployment..

When what you think you know is wrong, you effectively know less than crap, regardless of experience.

It seems a bit much to repeat this and you may realise you have to learn an important skill; the qualcom beeps and the truck is moving, nothing ... not a thing should make you read that quallcom ... nothing. Which means also that because you are in control of that truck, not the company, you have to stick to one rule after they complain about you not reading the messages, you ask the person if they are asking you to do something dangerous and illegal?

If you are a solo driver, the only way you can read a QualComm message is to stop. Now if you're a team, the messages are available. There is usually an 'audio' option available, that the friendly female voice will read it to you.

I would think 'reaching' for an electronic communication device such as a cell phone is illegal and thus reaching for the qualcomm button to activate the speaker voice should also be illegal as it is technically a communication device.

Actually I call it the Electronic Harrassment Device.

I recall once they sent me into Los Angeles for a load going out to Alabama. Got loaded and split eastbound around lunchtime Friday, they blast 4 messages and phone is blowing up. Read the messages, "please" and "if you like" go back to LA and we will get you some more freight somewhere to fill up your trailer. I mean they didn't even have a customer lined up yet and figure going back into the basin on Friday afternoon 60 miles back, all those hours to get loaded again then 60 miles back to where I was 120 miles and time down for a measly $35 extra stop pay, hell to the no. Another 10 minutes boom they auto dispatched me on this next stop pickup (they did find a customer pretty quick). Bear in mind I'm an owner op, they cannot force dispatch me, and I never accepted that load.

I did call in and got a lunchtime DM who said I was good to go, loaded call looked good, bam that's all you had to say. I got to Alabama and my DM was throwing a hissy fit that I didn't go back to LA that day.

The whole thing wouldn't have been a problem at all thinking back, if I had never touched the messages it would be no harm no foul and the DM would have no cause to throw a hissy fit. I would have stayed legitimately on the drive line, nothing they can do aside from activating some shut down virus on my truck lol.

At at first that's what I thought. You can have her read it out loud to you be hitting the home button, click messages, and hit the button on the middle with the dot in between the 4 arrows.

I'd advise you not to make this a habit.Like dispatch said, you're a company driver. After reading this post, with respect it kind of sort of sounds like you gave Carrie the attitude.I think she would have put u on the load tomorrow had you gave her the reason with respect and think she would have also found you an unauthorized fuel stop to get you by.Then you wouldn't have this service failure.

    I would have to agree.

From the OP, I have to say I smell favoritism. Apparently this dispatcher decided she wanted someone else to have the Yankee Candle load for some reason, and to add insult to injury he was only a mile from the place.
