I am interested in this one. But to be honest I am scared. He has no service records. Company went out of business and he bought several at auction. This is the only non automatic he has the keys and titles.
*edited just to clarify this man has been honest. He is not a driver doesn't know the truck all he knows is it does need tires. His business is buying and selling stuff. My best friend knows his cousin or something weird.*
Several Prostar's for sale

“Scared” would strike me as your gut feeling. You might want to heed to that feeling, because if things should go upside down, you’ll be saying “I knew it!”.
Vampire, Rideandrepair, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -
Depends largely on the year and the engine.
Research and be carefulbzinger, Rideandrepair and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
maybe no service records means....no regular servicing..??
i too would go with the gut feeling and walk away....
not only that, but the 2 pics you posted, tell me of abuse.Rideandrepair and ducnut Thank this. -
How do you see abuse? I'm asking because I don't know?Rideandrepair Thanks this.

1st pic, the arm rests are beaten up
2nd pic, left front corner of the bumper is pushed in, the left mirror is taped, the roof air foil has chipped paint above the drivers door area, looks like the driver side "air wing" is pushed in near the bottom (just above the fuel tank)Rideandrepair and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
Wasn’t there many issues with the Max Force engines? Or just one particular year of that engine?
Personally I could never buy one of those trucks considering they have very little resale value..Something to think.
Put the $20k down on a brand new Volvo or something like that.Rideandrepair, Siinman and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
i think i saw something like 425,000 miles, on a sleeper on a 2012 truck..????
i dunno.....Rideandrepair and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
I think, you’re pretty spot-on. Talked to a MaxxForce owner the other day. He said they’re as bad as everyone has heard and he’d just dropped another $7K on his. His was a really nice, well-kept truck (waxed and polished), but, said he hasn’t been able to unload the thing and he’s stuck with it.Vampire, Rideandrepair, buddyd157 and 2 others Thank this.

Maxxforce strike 1
Low miles Strike 2(means it was in shop a lot.)
Strike 3 Company out of business (Maxxforce repairs bankrupted another company)
my thoughts..
I’d be afraid of that engine.Vampire, Diesel Dave, bzinger and 10 others Thank this.
