Freight type is a personal preference. You get a room full of drivers from every type of freight base, and there will be endless arguments....flatbedder wondering how box truck drivers put up with warehouses, tanker drivers making fun of...pretty much everyone else. Reefer drivers telling horror stories about the days they spent waiting in a field to get a load of produce, other reefer driver bragging that they can haul either dry or reefer freight..van drivers dealing with all the headaches we deal with. After 22 years, I have done every type freight except tanker, doubles and oversized. Each had it's advantages and disadvantages...but a couple of positives I can say reefer had was that as long as the unit stayed running, you always had a place to chill down some drinks, and the trailers seemed to ride better. Not sure if it's because of the aluminum floor or the foam walls being more rigid, they just seemed to bounce less, even the Shaffer spring ride one I pulled once or twice. The only trailers that I have pulled that rode better was a loaded spread axle flatbed(air ride).

In the end, it takes all types of trailers in this industry...I mean I need my veggies from Cali, so I need reefer drivers. I build stuff, so I need flatbedders to bring me my wood. I use all sorts of liquid products, so I need tanker yankers...it takes us all. That is the beauty of the job I guess.

if so I don't blame him, you really can't make anymore money driving for Shaffer than Crete.
Plus it's not worth the extra BS involved with the whole reefer thing.

    Brandson and paul_4lp Thank this.
