Volvo- No wasn't Chris. I asked his AM how he was doing last time I was in Lincoln and was told he no longer works for Crete.

Final Shaffer Experiment #s:
42,135 paid miles.
104 days worked.
61 loads.
16 full days off.
690.73 average load length.
405.14 average paid miles per day.
I transferred back to Crete. The numerous inversions per week of the sleep schedule and primarily night driving had me constantly fatigued. I commend the Shaffer drivers that are able to adjust to the short/medium haul reefer modality.double yellow, 123456, Wild Murphy and 5 others Thank this. -

Xlsdraw, will you start the 'Crete Experiment' ?
Will you have a more in-depth analysis of the 'Shaffer Experiment' now that it's over ?joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Also was pretty much the biggest reason I was unhappy and left.. because I was living off sleep and energy AIDs to manipulate my sleep schedule there just to make it work.
Good luck at the Dry side, let us know how it works out. -

I had to do plenty of sleep schedule twisting at Crete. I mostly blame the 14 hour rule. With flexibility, it's much easier to deal with varying appointment times . Because you can sleep when tired and drive when rested. I guess another option is to run longhaul or work for a company with a regular schedule.

Plus the extra .03 at Shaffer doesn't cover time lost revolving your day around an appointment times and time lost waiting and driving to get a wash out.
You can more than make up for that .03 at Crete. -
It's trucking. Good luck finding an 8-5 schedule. Driving tired is an unwelcome part of the job, no matter how much we're regulated (regulation in most cases makes it worse, in my opinion). Take up rocket science if you want Monday to Friday daylight. Don't mean to sound harsh, but it seems that I'm just speaking the trucking facts of life.
FLATBED, TruckDuo and joseph1135 Thank this. -
BS, much easier pulling a dry box with a company like Crete. They have a LOT of open window appointments like freightwipper said. Night and day between the 2. Also if you run for a long haul reefer outfit you get to make up for loss of sleep with those 1200-2000+ loads. Can't do that with Shaffer practically loading and unloading everyday.
Astoh, freightwipper, xlsdraw and 1 other person Thank this.
