I used to run a daycab all over Chicagoland with a previous company. I absolutely NEVER had any problems with any law enforcement anywhere in the state. I always wondered if it was because my company was based in Illinois (I lived in Wisconsin at the time). Maybe I was right about that. Not that I ever did anything crazy illegal, but I have been known to speed here or there or drive down the occasional non-truck route. And I noticed the trucks that did get pulled over, were almost always the nice shiny out of state trucks, like yours @JonJon78 . The billions of ratty old can haulers held together with tape and zip ties always seemed immune to all the truck laws. Moral of the story, Illinois sucks.
Several of them, couple years ago anyway, if you asked some of those questions, would figure you wasn’t worth their time, cause they didn’t know the law they represented unless they got the book, would usually let you go and grab another.
This is a prime example of what I always fuss about. Someone who is trying to oversee something they know nothing about. I'm not kidding you...... Just yesterday, I went to pick up my load & it wasn't ready. Notified my supervisor/dispatcher & my fleet manager of that & that my clock was running. The fleet manager texted back and said for me to stop my clock until the load was ready. WHAT!?!?!? I advised the FM that there is no way to stop the 14 hr clock & that the 11 hr clock doesn't run unless you drive. Therefore, since I am sitting & waiting... I am not driving.... so the 11 is not running. (per se) About 20 minutes later, the FM texts me back & said "I read in HOS changes you could stop for 2 hrs but I cant remember the process and (the regional manager) didn't know either". I'm thinking O-M-G! Neither the fleet mgr & the regional mgr knows if a driver can stop his clock &/or when/how???? Sheesh. Again, someone trying to manage something they know nothing about.
That’s when i get in trouble because my answer is, “Well I don’t know either, when you find out let me know, best way is to call the head of the DoT, in whatever state you’re in, and ask them, they’ll explain it then you can tell me.”
Ahh ok. Lots of miles on that road too. It's always safer running those roads at night. Way too many close calls on 513 during the day. Its like a bunch of drunk Amish built 513
I assume thats why we can’t use it. The pad being fracked is literally across the street from 513. They can see you from pad and will rat you out if you use it.
Missouri did that to me back in the early 2000s. The officer kept my CDL in his patrol car while I followed him to the coop.
We had to have escorts on a lot of those goat trails. Like some of those roads off Rt 7 that follows the river. Not very tall mountains but boy that #### is steep
