Don't try to skip gears while moving unless the instructor tells you to. With an empty trailer, skipping gears is easy to do, but you need experience shifting gears quickly.

You must learn the way of the nudge.

New drivers go way, way too deep on the clutch.

You just need to nudge it like 2 inches.

You only put it to the floor when you're stopped, and you need the clutch brake to stop the gears from spinning.

Shift slowly. Be a "lazy" shifter . Smooth is fast.

I had an instructor teach me to say to myself "clutch, neutral, clutch, gear." Sound out fully, and quickly. Let the feet and hands move to that. Each engine has its own sweet spot that it likes to upshift and downshift, your instructor will tell you when. Just remember that saying and don't push the clutch all the way in.

Usually for gears 1-4 bring it up to 1400 rpm and engage the gear at 1200 rpm. Then for gears 5-8 bring it up to 1500 rpm and engage at 1300 rpm. Generally, theres always going to be a 200 rpm gap from where you bring it up to, to where you engage at. Also, when down shifting usually let it get down to 1100 rpm before giving a medium bump on the fuel pedal to engage.

Its like sex.. Shes the boss. Forcefully trying to get it in will get you all sort of trouble.

The motor wants to be at 1500rpm. Raise or lower the chassis speed in your present gear using either throttle or brake or jake, so that after the shift is over you land at 1500 again.

Below 1000 or above 2000 she aint happy. 1500 is the g spot
