Thanks everyone for your answers. I know out of gear out of control. We have to stay in gear. There are times when your in 8th or 9th and have to come to a sudden stop. No excuses... still need a gear. I'm going to try some of this advice posted. I appreciate all the answers from you experienced drivers! Ty and drive safely!

Remember, when you stop or whenever you are in gear, with the clutch depressed about 2 inches give or take, you can easily put it in any other gear. Where this is useful is stop lights/signs or even backing up to the dock, say you need a pullup-- back up, dead stop, with it still clutch in gear, then ease it into 1st.

I'm not going to elaborate due to embarassment. But you all don't know how much you helped me. I put some of these practices in play today. Can't believe I didn't ask sooner. It's amazing what Pride will keep us from sometimes. Good to know there still are some decent drivers out there willing to help their new younger brothers. God bless you men for taking the time out of your day to do so. You DID indeed help me.

Hi everyone, I have freithliner cascadia 2013 13 speed, similar problem, When transmission cold everything fine but when transmission heat up after 100 mile and for any reason I stop and neutral the gear. HERE problem come, I press full clutch and wait but transmission keep running so i have to push harder gear to 1st gear or 2st, and my truck shake. Mechanic said clutch need to replace, so he did and Problem still same. I drive other trucks same model but never feel this problem. If someone knows the issue please help

It's easier to do it than to write about it.
Sometimes autos take a while to get a gear in nuetral, so I tried to just stop in one gear and move to another. And there was manual mode on the paddle to force it if needed. -

Check adjustment and clutch brake engagement. May need a new clutch brake. Definitely need a new Mechanic.
