$1300 including fee for custom color.
For front 2 built to spec.
OPINIONS.....??.....Worth it? Would high quality shocks make that much of improvement to justify price?.....[/QUOTE]
Told you that quality wasn’t cheap.
Still gonna pull the trigger?

Yea spoke to Pat at HD this morning.
He even sent me some screenshots of other customers reviews.
The one was about how the guys truck now barely notices crossing bridge expansions now. Several made comments about how much body roll was reduced. Only one that mentioned mileage was that he just cracked 200k miles on his. Concensus was pretty much a night n day difference.
Pat did tell me that people have been reluctant to place on the drives and most customers have just done the steer axles so far.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Funny you say that about the bridge aprons - in the T2000, first drive it felt like they'd fixed all the bridge aprons and repaved the roads, on travels I was very familiar with.
Not to crap on your Cascadia - but it's a similar 'fleet truck' to that T2000 (which was an ex CFI fleet unit I bought at 963k miles). I ran it to 1.2m, sold it to Dave, and he ran it to 1.5m before his driver wrecked it with the same shocks if I recall. But - you can still improve a regular work horse if you want to.
I hate a rough ride, and rough roads. I've upgraded seats, rebuilt suspension, front and back, keep the unit greased and use Chad at MD align in KC (again - only had it aligned twice in 45ok miles, because he does a pre alignment inspection and shoos you away to get any bushing/spring/shock/kingpin issues fixed before he puts his name on it)
It bothers me that owners complain about (or don't, but suffer from) spinal issues and body fatigue, and wind up paying dearly for the damage to their bodies - but won't pay the dollars for ride comfort technology that has advanced tenfold in the last 2 decades. We used to ride on spring technology before air bags came along, fixed seats before air ride seats, etc, etc.
Honestly - $1300 is stuff all to spend on a truck, I know guys compare the cost of regular junk shocks to the cost of these - but - how many regular shocks would I have changed out in 400k miles of driving? At what cost?
It probably sounds like I'm a schill for either RK (extinct) or HD (never dealt with them ) shocks, or MD alignment (Chad I have dealt with in KC) - but I'm not.
I was nervous about spending the $ - but you did say you DGAF about upgrading the ride, so get them and report back.Oxbow Thanks this. -
I refuse to allow the ride quality to ruin my day when pumping out 10/11 hrs days every day when I can easily INVEST in the trucks health and my own.
I'm think I might have ti check out this dude in KC! Slide through on my way past and allow him to take a quick look at it. Then find a load that delivers in KC and give him the truck. I had our guys laser align it but hey a tool is only as good as the mechanic using it. Facts
The shocks are just one piece in this mission I'm on! CentraMatics are getting put on, definitely on the front. Most likely the rears as well but gonna test run the Fronts first. Then definitely getting that air regulator for my seat to get rid of unnecessary bouncing.
Gotta make the decision about the rear shocks though. I'm looking at it this way, if it's a substantial difference (and I mean big diff) then I'll drop that insane amount to put the HDs on the drives as well! (I need Jesus....lol)
But like you already mentioned, how many pairs of cheap shocks will be replaced in that time frame. To me, it justifies the cost. And not to mention, extending the life of my tires. (why's Michelin X-Drive+ gotta be so #### expensive...lol)Oxbow and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I run Centramatics on steers, drives, and trailer wheels they’re cheap, and the physics make sense to me. Some guys like beads, to me - the Centramatics are a separate easy application that doesn’t require any input - or upkeep..
Tear off every wheel and have it balanced. And watch them when they do it. And if they have a problem with that - find a tire shop that owns a torque wrench, and can carry out customer requirements.
Run out guage. Check for out of round tires, rims, drums. Or do it yourself. There’s very few tire shops out there that actually know how to do their job. It’s like the hotshot world of real mechanics.
Look at trucks and trailers passing by you when you can see obvious bouncing, wobbling wheel ends.
Do one thing at a time. Get ALL your wheels balanced first. Watch them as they do it. If it needs more than 12oz, have them break it down and rotate it 180 degrees. If it’s still out, on a virgin tire - look at rims and drums.
Get the shocks on the front and see how it is.
Then go to Chad and have it inspected. And aligned if he doesn’t find anything. He DOES NOT DO ANY WORK ON YOUR TRUCK - nor recommend anyone. He simply will not align a truck that can’t be aligned, otherwise he will cop the blame.
Chad - 913 709 6199
I can’t get Michelin in 24.5 anymore, but I never run recaps or used tires. Virgin tires at correct pressure, swapped out at 6/32nds minimum, I’ve never had a road service call for a tire in 10 years. Maybe luck, or prevention - not sure.Iceman1643 Thanks this. -
Ask HD if they have a “cheaper” line for drive shocks.
RK had a “Silver road “ line - that have also been on the truck for the last 400k miles without issue.
Chad will charge you $150 for an inspection, if he doesn’t think you’ll be back - for coming down to the shop and going through the tractor.
He’s a very ‘intense’ guy - he certainly has a knack and passion for what he does, I wish I could visit him more frequently, but he does such a good job, he almost runs himself out of business.loudtom, Oxbow and Iceman1643 Thank this. -
blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I weigh in at about 160 -
Seats are a personal fit kinda thing, IMO. -
Think I'm gonna wait til spring and have them mounted.blairandgretchen Thanks this.
