I'm a former alcoholic that would use cannabis 2-3 times a year before I started trucking, so I understand where you're coming from. Many of these people have been misinformed and propagandized, it's a sad situation. Thank you for your comment and good luck with your continued sobriety.

Maybe in your dream world you could store alcohol on the catwalk. Alcohol is not allowed anywhere on the tractor and only in the trailer if manifested on you BOL. And yes I know in actuality, some do carry it.

Since we didn’t specify countries, it’s 100% legal in Canada as long as it’s out of the driver’s reach.

I'm wrong on that, I've been misinformed by two different people on the matter and I double checked the FMCSA website to confirm. Sad thing is this is something my old trainer taught me and was reaffirmed by a owner-operator I met in Denver. Thanks for the good info

That standard should go for some of these dispatchers too.

    Harry Dunne: (Dumb and Dumber)
“According to the map we've only gone 4 inches.”

He Would be held to some of these dispatchers i’ve had in the past, including two alcoholics at two different companies.

No opinion about use of weed will override failing a drug test. You either fail the test or you don't, having a comfortable story about how The System screwed you is not going to give you a paycheck after you lose your job. If it's just harmless weed don't throw away a full time job and the paycheck it provides over "just some harmless weed." Being poor is a choice. Poor peple make poor choices, over and over.

THC is detectable for a long time after use. If you walk into an industry with random drug tests, you use drugs, you deserve to get kicked out for low IQ if not illegal drug use.

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding, at least in the front half of this thread. The OP was asking a hypothetical. If marijuana were fully legal, and testable for impairment like alcohol would you be fine with it being treated the same? Many seem to believe that because use is detectable by metabolites in the body you're still impaired a month later. As far as I know that is far from the case. I don't know the actual time it takes to become fully sober, but that should be considered in the hypothetical. Personally I've never had much use for mood altering chemicals, alcohol or weed. I wouldn't mind having the opportunity to use it if I could do so safely, though.

Tangential to the question I don't really think that usage of alcohol on a 10 should be seen as appropriate. Maybe it should be allowed, but a lot of people misunderstand how impairment works and drive drunk like idiots.

Again. If you think this topic is a troll, or that because the rules don't currently allow it that it's a dumb thread, then you've fundamentally misunderstood the topic.
