Vomiting is a definition of being sick. Vomiting is a utter rejection of your body of whatever it sees as a form of poison or insult in your stomach out it goes. PUKE. Your gut is actually part of your Immune defenses. A strong part. Which is why we use veins and so on to bypass it and take medicines straight to the body and brain bypassing the stomach. (Another reason for example to add liquid zofram to a massive pain shot that might induce vomiting on your part once your system understands it's being shut off in about 5 seconds with the really potent stuff.

I had my surgery in dec. Last year and they paralyzed me and provided lung support with oxygen otherwise I would be dead shortly. In order to do that they have to get the tube past the gag point of the throat. Thats another defense related to immunity. No gag reflex means they can do whatever they like and you just have to sit there and take it. When I came around just enough to follow commands to breathe a certain way the tube came out followed by the reactivation of the gag, followed by vomiting whatever was in the stomach which was not very much. A bit of versed and back to sleep for the day, it was big surgery with other issues.

I typed alot. But if you were eating good cooked food as in well done, the chances of getting sick is slim. Same with bottled water of good quality that is consistent over local tap water which will contain sometimes bacteria that is a enemy to you in the gut. And that is the other side of it. If it is Norovirus for example that got into you, you will both vomit and do endless number two while dehydrating violently and fast. Eventually your blood gets acid mix with wastes that are not being eliminated normally leading to shutting down across your systems relatively fast. You probably wont see the morning and wake up dead wondering what in the world happened.

Oh Im not sick. Oh yes you were.

One of the failings of our schooling such as it is is that medicine is not a subject understood by many. In my time if I had gotten a bad tummy or booboo, they just broke out the codeine from the brown pint bottle with a spoon and have me drink it. in about 5 minutes you aint sick or complaining anymore. And that would be that. With today's war on opiates such a basic medicine like Codeine is very hard to come by because for some it makes people TOO well have them doing cartwheels or leans etc.

Trucking is just not a activity you should be doing when sick, however it does happen from time to time. Monitor your condition with blood pressure and oxy sensor. And anything less than 100/60 combined with a feeling that you are carrying a 10 ton anchor on you means you need to hit the ER. And they will figure it out relatively fast. And fix it.

There isnt a company or dispatch however resistant to the word no or even ignoring legal logged runs etc that wont allow you a sick day or two. Someone will probably find you and take the load off you hand you a empty to sit and get over it.

When you feel better you will be rolling soon enough. And how!

Ive had food poisoning a few times but subway last year topped all my double ender sessions.. I was pretty confident i'd die.

Tell dispatch to repower and leave you alone. Its gonna take 3 full days of rest for you to be human again. Man, force yourself to sip water.. Youre waay dehydrated already. Staying that way will delay recovery.

    Hang in there driver.

If you are losing fluids from both ends get to the doctors yesterday, it may destroy your kidneys and if you continue life it will be painfull, all for a load? I have the same problem from extreme dehydration, I tried keeping up with the loss but it is impossible. Get to the hospital now.

That was the one big breakthrough. That plus the smoking side of it.

I started taking flu shots for whats its worth at a relatively early time in life, I was already prone to those kinds of problems, respiratory etc. A MRI got inside and examined the system a decade or more ago and found damage that was present. Including lime from lime powder bulk deliveries. That was the one item I had to stop doing. Dress up like a space man to unload those. Then get really sick a hour later. It was crazy. And some of that is part of me now. Im pretty sure the body has done alot of repairing since those days.

The sickest I've ever been was after eating Subway I got from the Speedway truck stop in Mattawan MI. Mom and dad had met me over there for lunch and they got it too.

I had made it over to the receiver near Binghamton, NY, when the boiling guts started to hit. They gave me my bills and I had to pull out of the dock and #### in the trash can before I even closed the doors. My poor dog was like, "Dude, did you have to do that in here?"

I was laid up for two days at the Loves. #### a bunch of Subway (or any fast food for that matter).

i had been sick on the road, and called the company. the terminal i was at, had a bunk house, that i stayed at, there was NO problem.

one of the drivers out of my terminal was sick, was drinking lots of gatorade to stay hydrated and passed out and rolled over.. he was not fired. it was found that when he was in the hospital that he was indeed very sick, but he thought he could make it.

he was lucky he lived, and swore if he was ever to be that sick again, to get off the road asap.

About 6 years ago I was riding down I-97 south of here once and suddenly got very nauseous. There was WAY too much traffic to pull over, and pulling over on that highway is dangerous as all hell anyway, so I barfed in my empty coffee mug, dumped it out the window, refilled it, and dumped it again. I don’t know how exactly what triggered that, but it left as quickly as it came.

Dry heaves are the worst. To avoid them eat a piece of crust less white bread. Does it stop the throwing up? No, but white bread comes up easy and absorbs that stomach acid. Doctors for some reason always recommend crackers. Those things are pointy and just don’t come up as well.
