Seems like there's an awful lot of Stockholm Syndrome going around on here.
SUffer, you got to suffffffer, SUFFER!
It's the only way to fulfill the destiny of the protestant work ethic, or some such nonsense.
    Work smarter, not harder, people.
Because only real men are tough enough or whatever.

Truck drivers are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.
    Too bad.
Lots of behavioral conditioning at work here in trucking, folks.
    Think on it.

Why stir the pot, if your not happy quit. For those of us that are let it ride its really easy. I agree not everybody thinks hauling cattle in a 30 tear old Pete is the next best thing to dying and going to heaven but I do. If that makes me a dummy well at least I'm a happy dummy. Happiness is the secret of life by the way. What good is fortune, fame, cool toys or time off if you ain't happy

It takes longer than 6 weeks to get the hang of maximizing hours and trip planning anyway.

Come talk to us after the first 6-8 months..

    blairandgretchen and Dinomite Thank this.

Dude with your whole 6 weeks of driving and couldn't cut the mustard and now you pick a fine time to do some research on trucking loucille. Here's a quarter call someone who cares, and please take trucker out of your name because you do a disservice to all the greats who are truckers. Really man what did you do before driving live with mom and play play station all day?

I'm working hard, and also pretty smart.

As a company driver that is.

I've been conditioned to believe if I work hard for a good company, that I'll be as well rewarded as the miles I put in . . . after I spent the first 3 years gaining experience and keeping abreast clean record.

    I think we're off topic here . . .

Stockholm Syndrome? Nah, it is called "LIFE." It is called "REALITY." Yes, we are exempt from FLSA. Are you just finding this out? If so, then you did not do due diligence in researching the industry.

So many people come to trucking because they think it is an easy way to make money. A great way to see the country. They think they can be "hobby truckers." And then when reality hits them, they just don't know what to do.

Either leave the business, or suck it up and learn the business. Work hard, save enough money to own your own truck, and see just how hard it is to "make a buck."

Stockholm Syndrome? Come on man, no one has kidnapped you, and no one is forcing you to stay in your job. My guess is, that your employer would be delighted to see you go find another one. Shoot, they might even give you a "glowing" recommendation to help you take your attitude and go elsewhere.
