    Bearings , belts idler pulleys and rectifiers , voltage regulators still fail as before.

    Yes, eliminating brushes on most alternators helped a good bit....

    HOWEVER they still make lots of trucks with brush type alternators.. unless someone is paying attention when they expect the truck that one can be missed easily.

    My current truck's alternator was blowing magic smoke at 300k miles. I was lucky and noticed it while pulling up to fuel. Bearing failure.

    I have 750k on this alternator now. On last truck it went 1.1 k miles. Remy Delco brushless alternators.
