Sliding tandems

250 lbs per hole, move in direction you have a problem, (over on drives, move it in that direction). You don't need a stick, all you need to know is how to count and mark where you want to be.
Over on drives by 800? Move the pin 4 holes forward and mark your hole with a rock.

 

depending on the age of the trailer, 250 isn't always accurate

 

Put a pin in the one ahead of the one you need, slide til it hits the stop,

 

Put a cigarette butt next to your step on the driver's side on the ground.
They'll be little markings on your step, find one you like.....it doesn't matter.
In your mind, determine how far from that mark and your step you want to be and move to it.
Look out your window and move to the cigarette butt.

Also seen some goofy looking thing foe sale at truck stops to stick in the hole and stop it where you want it but never used that either.

 

He’s talking about using a stick and counting these holes, to correlate how many tandem holes one is sliding.



I’d suggest doing the same thing with your new truck. Just use a stick and have someone watch your tandems for a single hole there and count what you moved on your current step.
