For me, that advisory sign is a stop sign. More than that, it's a 'turn my ### around' sign.

24% grade is phuckno territory in any sort of heavy vehicle, IMHO. I will happily leave the paved ski slopes to others.

I was a long haul rider on a old 10 speed from '85 and not sure if you can have the standard pads against the rim hold up for 25 miles of 24% We had a little 6% at home that in half a mile you are at 50. Which is pretty much all you can expect from the frame welds of the day.

    For me I love it.

But 25 miles of crooked that steep? Im right behind you turning around. It would be about 5 mph pulling that for what? 6 hours the other way?

People a lot dumber and less experienced than you do it ever day of the year. There is hardly a road in this country that doesn't get a million or more drivers on it every year. Drive like you are taught to drive and you can go anywhere in this country.

There is one hill I always wanted to put into the bucket list.

Pikes Peak in CO. Unfortunately there is nothing that goes that way so it will be a waste of fuel and time doing that.

That acquired skill is pretty to behold. Especially when he allowed it to slide sideways a tad.

Now he started sawing at 3:36 or so... careful with that, anyone can over do that too much. Front end aint got a grip.

Go for it driver, it is just roads.
I just a green kid up the haul road. The company he works for wants him to follow oe of their drivers up for 10 loads or till they think he is ready to run on his own.
He is friends with my swamper and has been driving a few months, but local deliveries, then switches dpen south on the pavement, but wants to run the haul road instead.
He found out I was taking a load, and ask if could get a load, could he follow me up. I said sure, I knew they wouldn't let him, The load I was hauling was their freight, but on a contract basis, I do not work for them nor am I leased to them. I just haul the extra freight they can't cover for them. I also knew I literally had the last load of the day, which is the ltl load that has to go straight through.
Well they did let him go with me and put him a load together, but I had to wait 3 hours, till 9 pm for him to be ready to go.
With that late of a start, I could not cut him much slack, he hung in there and we made the trip up in exactly 12 hours, which is very good considering we wound up stopping more than usually do, mainly because of the way they had loaded the flat he was pulling.
Green driver in his low 20's
506 miles, with grades over twice of any interstate grades anywhere in the country, way over half of it is dirt, what is pavement slows you down considerably, 50 mile max speed limit and with all stops, we made it in a solid 12 hours.
