Offered a preplan, but can't do it. It was a Tyson load out of Dakota City, NE. The priority message that accompanied it said I needed to arrive tomorrow morning at 0545 and log a 10 before picking up. The problem is, my current load doesn't deliver in Sioux Falls until 0800. Counting the unload time, a must have washout, and 95 miles of deadhead, I wouldn't be in Dakota City until after noon. The load live unloads in Harrisonville, MO at 0200 on Friday, so the only break I could possibly take is a 7/3 split, and then I couldn't confirm OTD, so they pulled it. Plus, I was on a skinny 2 lane US route with a narrow shoulder, so it took me over an hour to finally get pulled into a Historical Marker drive to refuse the load.

I am currently at the Kimball, SD Love's feeling lazy. I shut down with 22 available minutes on my 70...waste waste waste.

Offered another Costco load. Picks up tomorrow in Fremont, NE (and just like the Cali load to Costco, can't go in until they tell me what trailer number and po# assigned to it after it's preloaded). And very similar to the Tyson loads, this one has specific instructions that dispatch has to confirm you understand...and they are, trailer has to be washed out, have 2 load locks left in it when you drop, and tandems slid to the rear. That's it, nothing technical, nothing out of the ordinary. So, when Ops asked me to confirm I understood, I couldn't resist being my usual malcontent self and say "really, we have drivers that can't comprehend that level of instructions? Maybe management needs to encourage them to work for someone with a simple job like McDonald's", when they came back with the "just doing my job" excuse, I told them that I understood they're told, but it's a crying shame that this company has had to lower its hiring standards this low that have to hire drivers that can't understand that level of instructions just to keep butts in the seats and that I can remember when they actually hired professional drivers who could think for themselves, how times have changed. I bet Mr. Acklie is rolling over in his cript when he sees what his company has become.
