Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

This pretty much sums up anyone that works at any mega trucking company office it seems like.

 

They send me a preplan this morning with one stop in Stockton and then a final stop in South San Francisco… The problem is the Stockton drop was 8 PM Tuesday night and the south San Francisco drop was 7 AM the next morning with no overnight parking… I informed them that I don’t know how logistically you’re gonna be able to do that with HOS and they finally said just grab it and we’ll figure it out on our end…
Well, I decided to drag my feet so to speak dropping the load at Walmart in Cheyenne then they turn around and offered me a load out of North Platte, going to Olathe, Kansas and they asked me if I’d want that one instead of one going to South San Francisco. I said yes…

The one going to California was a JBS load and JBS is the one who scheduled those appointments initially they obviously don’t know what they’re doing either

 

Delivered to the Walmart box Ready meat plant in Olathe, Kansas yesterday and two of the three empty reefer trailers had dead batteries… And according to the yard driver there one of them had been sitting there all week long with a dead battery and nobody knew anything about it evidently with our road call center department

 

In my 13 years at Crete....only did one week on Walmart account...refused to do it ever again...and never had to

 

Even Tim has stated recently that it’s not required, but it seems like there’s people in operations that get butt hurt when someone tells them no to running the account as a fill-in… They can get over it too

 

Sent in paperwork today..to cash out my profit sharing ... will get a little over..$43, 000 for 13 years of employment..not bad considering I never put any thing in it..other than my normal work schedule...of 8 weeks out then one week home...but was home more than working in Iraq ...was only allowed to be home for 30 days per year...did that for 8 years

 

Found an annoying bug today with the new tablets. Not sure if anyone else has experienced it.

Picked up a load in Cleburn TX going to Maine. Shaffers ld info showed it to be a 34° s/s rfr setting. I drop my empty, pick up paperwork from the office and grab my loaded trl. Noticed the -10° setting, double checked the BOL, Yep -10, continuous mode.

I sent a message off to dispatch about the discrepancy and proceeded to start my check call. I got to the temp entry and put the -10° in and the blank spot under the entry box says temps dont match load info, contact dispatch.

I finish out the loaded call form and hit submit. Screen pops back to the top of the load call form with a red circle with exclamation point in the middle. Didn't get an automated nastygram response either. The loaded call wouldn't even transmit, much less get rejected by the dispatch computer in Lincoln.

I sent another message in to dispatch, they never replied to the first one. I figured might as well roll out as I know the shippers info is correct and the trailer temp is correct. Figured I hear from the AM when they get it fixed.

About 3h go by, wanted to clear Dallas before rush. About 3pm I park for a 30m break, check messages and my AM says they've updated the info on the tablet and to resend ldd call. I double check to see if the ld info is correct and it showed the -10 continuous setting. I sent a loaded call but still got the same temp error on the entry form box. Loaded call wouldn't go through.

Called my AM and he had me send another ldd call and was watching for it. It never showed up. And I verified the load dispatch info was corrected with the -10. He said he was stumped and told me to call my home terminal.

I called them and got the tablet specialist and she looked at a bunch of stuff. First thing she noticed is the load was showing delivered and etrips was expecting the bol to be uploaded. She was confused about that, then she had me try to send another ldd call. Wouldn't go through again. We played around trying different things until she just got frustrated and said to have my AM cancel and redispatch the load with the proper temp.

My AM did that and after a minute or 2 I got the new load info. Did the arv shipper and loaded calls and all went through fine.

Took about 5 hours to complete it

So, it seems that if there is a temp discrepancy between Cretes load info and the shippers bol temp settings, the tablet doesnt like it. When the load info is updated, the load form isnt seeing the updated temp and mode settings and gets stuck with bad info that can't be corrected. And it seems that there is no way for dispatch to get into my tablet to remove the unsent erroneous call. The "clear form" button down by the submit button does nothing. Every entry box is unable to be cleared no matter how many times the ldd call is attempted with new info. The only fix is to cancel and redispatch the load and do all the check calls again.

There's a LOT of work that needs to be done before this software is ready for prime time. I wouldn't even call this a beta release.
