Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

I think the transmission is going on my Junkliner. Last week, it started occasionally missing a gear on upshifts, it's been hanging up in gear when I 1st leave from a potty break, or my 30. Then today when I was leaving Coke, at the stopsign at the end if the road...it stayed in 7th gear, and tried to pull away with 43,000 lbs that way...I had to throw it in N and then back in D to get it to go back to 1st.

 

And it's got a funky idle. Opti-idle wasn't cooperating yesterday at the new Love's in Baldwin FL, so I wedged a nickle in the gap between the throttle pedal linkage and the throttle position sensor housing, just to bring the idle up a 100 or so, but it would lug down under 600, then throttle up to 800 for a few seconds, then lug down, speed up...all night long...bet my neighbor just loved my loud Carrier reefer and my funky idle Junkliner.

 

Honestly, it's gotta be defective equipment. Not sure what benefit spec'g a truck to miss shifts and stick in gear like it does...I could see skipping gears on shifts (which it does...a lot), but hanging in 1st or 2nd gear all the way to redline and not shifting at all just burns more fuel. As far as the weird idle and comfort mode not working right, I think there is some sensor going bad somewhere or the VG turbo actuator is intermittently acting up making it idle weird. Plus the little amber, engine shaped nightlight has been going on and off more often (intake temp sensor code). And that could be the sensor, the wire or my EGR cooler not working right.
