Ours was slammed, not as many good deals as in the past, but there was no sign of inflation depressing spending…

I had a very surprising experience on Thanksgiving day.

Had a load from Auburndale FL to Dayton. Load picked up Wednesday afternoon. Ran up to Wildwood and traffic was insane going up US27. Took me 3 hours! I figured, heck I'm just gonna park and take off early in the morning to avoid the i75 holiday crush. I crashed out in the bunk. I must've been tired because I slept 10 hours! Woke up at 6am CST po'd at myself for oversleeping. Fully expected to deal with a super holiday crush all the way up i75.

    Boy was I surprised!

    I ran from Wildwood to the J in Knoxville in 9h15m! 587 miles! That's about 63mph avg... in a 68mph truck...on a holiday...around ATLANTA! AT NOON!

I did not hit a SINGLE slowdown. ANYWHERE! Not Macon, not Atlanta, not Chattanooga nor K'ville.

I have NEVER made that run that quick. I probably never will again either...lol

Well that sucks, gotta watch out for them Iowaegians! I'm going to call Lincoln now and tell them you're needing a blue truck with an AMT immediately. You running around under cover in a red truck needs to come to a stop.

Red-blue what's the difference. Both say Crete and Shaffer on them with the same DOT number...as long as the money is green, I really don't have a preference on truck color to be honest.

90% of the traffic is Southbound this time of year.

I am starting to believe I am cursed here lately. Here is the latest

Rolling across I-64, just east of Lexington with moderate traffic. At the last second, I saw some sort of either a thin plastic business sign or a thin piece of plywood in my lane (just coming over a small hill)...no place to move left, so I straddle it and my truck's aero sucked it up, shearing both air lines off the left front brake chamber and nicking the ABS cable on a nearly new trailer...shutting me down on the side of the road.

The only way I'd ever be assigned a blue truck is if I transferred to Crete. When I pulled a dry van, I almost always had a blue truck.

Well, he didn't have the right fittings on his service truck (he just got moved to a different truck and hadn't gotten all his stuff transferred over), so, rather than make me sit there, he caged the brake chamber and pinched the lines closed and got me to their shop where he can fix it without worrying about getting hit. People have 0 respect for a broke down truck on the shoulder (with triangles and flashers...and his service truck strobes), including some Shaffer trucks. I thought about getting some of my 4' pieces of pvc out and swinging at the twits that wouldn't move over...f'g #######. I even challenged some by walking straight at them over the white line, but I had to chicken out and jump back.
