Wanna know why they (TMC) has shiny trucks?

From what I was told by a TMC recruiter back in the days of yore, they supply YOU the driver with polish/wax, for YOU to take care of it, and if you didn't, you'd be written up and whatever other BS they did to you.

Please be sure to ask a TMC driver (or recruiter) if that is still true to this day. It was back in oh about 1992 when I went to work for someone else after hearing that, from a recruiter.

Werner is alright i think there better then swift and cr england i can say some good things about them also.
My intentions where get experiance and move on.
They did give me a 2015 freightliner cascadia with 52k miles i lucked out other people where getting older models
It was a harsh winter and there was a couple times i called them up sorry i'm not driving on snow packed roads they didn't mind.
I took home time once every 5 weeks and there was a couple times i had to threaten to quit (said in a nice way if i cant get home with a month notice i need to find somewhere else to work)
my fleet manager worked there 30 years and he was nice inless u got rude with him. In a way At the end i felt like there where being rude&disrespectful to me so i would quit, in 3 weeks from when i quit i was getting another 750 bonus check and also i understand people in the office have bad days and not always going to be chipper but this was a everyday thing. im was born and raised in the northeast and im all about respect.

Former Werner here;I was not on DG but maybe this will help: you probably will not get home the day you ask for, so put in for 2 days ahead of what you really need. Doctor/ dental appts you should schedule on your hometime / 4 days off .Did the recruiter tell you DG must take sundays off?(not sure on that, you should check) Think about your 70hr rule, Make sure you tell the doctors you will try to make it but ask what their policy is if you cant like charge you for it anyway.
Make photo copies(use your phone camera) of all BOL's & trip envelopes to verify everything, especially reimbursements. Payroll dept is notorious for making mistakes, check over every paystub; call payroll & ask questions if needed; keep records! get the name of who you talked to. If you see a mistake expect they won't correct it unless you hound them wk after wk. Talk to other drivers Not the newbies when you go for orientation. Werner will pay for your trip there by bus or train, if you rent a car keep your receipt to turn in. don't expect repayment for 2-4wks. Are you scheduled for orientation at Allentown terminal? Bring money in case you fail the physical, you will be sent home & will not be paid for the transportation. I never did unloading so I never had to do a physical stress test, but you probably will. Are you in good shape? Driving a wrecker doesn't come close to the constant lifting you'll do on DG. You better believe it for that account! Trailers reach 120 plus degrees inside in the summer & you'll be throwing 50lb plus boxes onto a roller and your trailer will be full. Quite frankly that's why they offer such a sweet deal to get drivers on DG. Most people quit after a week or two & go on 48 states. Buy a back brace & wear it if you still think you're superhuman. Good Luck!

I just read Kolorado's message; he's absolutely correct about most dispatchers being rude! Maybe it's the stress they are put through, not sure but guaranteed you can expect it will happen! I highly suggest you put your speaker phone on loud & tape record the conversation when you think there might be a dispute just to protect yourself, especially if you have an accident or are being questioned by cops stopping you or why you were late. Good to have a recorder, you can buy a small one in Walmart for about $30 that will fit in your shirt pocket so nobody knows you're recording them. Also comes in handy to remind yourself of things from orientation or while you're driving when you can't use a pen & paper. Again good luck!

I'm in good shape. My current job requires 20 stops a day running up to 200' of 2" food grade hose upstairs, downstairs, and in between. I bbc.co used to unload trailers daily as a mover and as a lumper. As long as they keep true to their end of the contract, I will be content driving for them. To all you newbies out there. ALL dispatchers suck. They're all underpaid mindless drones. Get used to that now. They are under far more stress then you are. What I've learned? Regardless of how much they suck, kill them with kindness. It gets you far further than being a miserable prick back.

One thing for sure while driving shotgun beside him and 10 feet of snow, you realize how quickly that 10 years of experience pays off. Backing up can be a ##### and navigation within the Northeast can be a nightmare, but years bussing around the narrow streets of Boston can definately help prepare for other future obstacles.

Looks like you've made up your mind to join Werner. Seems to me the money is your top priority, but it soon looses it's flavor when you've been beaten down every night! Just hope you take into account all the negative things drivers have told you here.
