Personally, if I lived in a state that wouldn't allow me to defend myself, with anything, I wouldn't live in that state but, than again, I wouldn't move there in the first place. That is just me though....
BTW, there is a nice little phone app titled "legal heat" that will give you up to date info on every state. I have a TN permit and it is good in pretty much all states but, CA, OR, IL, MD, MI, NH, & Con... I may be missing one but, just going off the top of my head. I also carry a safe so when I am in one of those commy states longer than just driving through, I can put it in there.
so let's be honest here....

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!blackcrowntrans Thanks this.

Well, being Canadian, I'd have to throw it on my own hood so as not to offend.
Then I'd have to clean it up... -
Yes. Just pull your hand valve and pull your tractor forward a little bit. You don't need much, just a couple inches, so your trailer stays on the fifth wheel. Then back up again to re-engage it.Lonesome Thanks this.

Sometimes the pin re engage when you are trying to pulled out under it lol just a little roll back

I had a friend who smeared poop on the door handles of another friends 4 wheeler at party one night. When he tried to open the door he said somebody rubbed grease on this and guy that was with tells him that don't smell like grease dude.lol he was madbrowndawg Thanks this.

Wow...Vasoline under the door handle is kinda funny, antiseize can be infuriating, that's just wrong.

I suppose this could be a nuisance that might not be picked up on right away, break the seal on their trailer. I suppose a strict receiver could potentially refuse the load, but that'd be the extent of it, right?
Now that I think of it, could be costly.
But hey, no lives were placed at risk.
Unless that was the load the driver needed the money from to save his house from being repossessed. -
If you want to be safe, get in your truck, put the tractor in reverse. If the handle is pulled it should re-lock with just the pressure of the the tractor. I've seen many lucky drivers that have a Columbia or Century, where a cross member on the frame catches the king pin. Look at many of these tractors, you will see it bent and torn up, this is why.
